WNC 草莓社区 Awarded Free Admission to Nevada Museum of Art

Nov 18, 草莓社区

Being a 草莓社区 student now comes with an inspiring new perk 鈥 free admission to the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno starting this November.

Through the generosity of the late Wayne Prim and his foundation, current and future WNC students will join their peers at the University of Nevada, Reno and Truckee Meadows Community College in enjoying unlimited access to one of the state鈥檚 premier cultural institutions.

鈥淭his partnership gives our students an incredible opportunity to connect with art, history and culture beyond the classroom,鈥 said WNC President Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe. 鈥淣evada Museum of Art offers a space for creative discovery and reflection 鈥 experiences that complement the high-quality education our students receive at WNC.鈥

As a 鈥淢useum of Ideas,鈥 the Nevada Museum of Art is celebrated for its thought-provoking exhibitions and vibrant programming. Some current exhibitions include 鈥淒eep Time: Sea Dragons of Nevada,鈥 鈥淭he Art of Judith Lowry,鈥 鈥淒orothea Lange: Seeing People,鈥 and 鈥淲hen Langston Hughes Came to Town.鈥

Beyond full gallery access, students also enjoy free admission to live performances and events, including monthly First Thursday singer/songwriter showcases, Art Bite Fridays, where artists and curators share insights into their creative processes, and access to the Institute for Art + Environment which includes a research library, archives and study spaces.

鈥淲e are excited to partner with 草莓社区 to offer students free admission to the Nevada Museum of Art,鈥 said David B. Walker, CEO. 鈥淭his exciting new partnership reflects our shared commitment to lifelong learning and accessibility 鈥 ensuring that students across Northern Nevada have opportunities to engage with art, new ideas and cultural experiences.鈥

The student access program reflects Prim鈥檚 lifelong commitment to philanthropy in both the arts and education. A Life Trustee and major donor to the museum, Prim鈥檚 legacy continues to inspire opportunities that enrich Nevada鈥檚 communities.

WNC students can simply present their college ID card for free entry at the museum, located at 160 W. Liberty Street in Reno. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and closed on Mondays.

鈥淭his is more than just a free admission,鈥 Dr. Dalpe added. 鈥淚t鈥檚 an invitation for our students to explore creativity, think critically and engage with the world through art. We appreciate the Nevada Museum of Art for their partnership to support WNC and its students.鈥
